Games of the 2009 CrawlPB Beer Olympics

In this edition of the Beer Olympics, we're focusing on the Beer Pong - a big favorite of the innaugural games. We'll have a large beer pong tournament, either single or double elimination depending on the number of teams.

Both team members must register and pay separately. Teams will sign in together prior to the tournament at 710 Beach Club.

  • Beer Pong

We'll be following the 710 house rules for beer pong, so if you've been for game night, you'll know the drill.

9 oz of beer per player will be provided for each game. Players may distribute however they see fit, and may supplement with their own beverage. Water will also be provided as an alternative to the beer.

    SET-UP
    • 6-cup pyramid formation (unless in O.T. see below)
    • Cups are filled with approximately 3 oz of beer (provided by CrawlPB) or water, if requested
    • Coin toss OR rock/paper/scissors to see who starts the game
    RULES
    STANCE
    • Players must shoot from behind the line!
    SHOT TAKING
    • Players must alternate one shot at a time
    • Cups stay on the table until both players shoot their ball. Balls are removed after each shot made.
    BALLS BACK
    • Ball must be removed out of cup after it is made before second shot is taken. If both balls are made in the same cup, the shooting team gets the balls back for another turn.
    BALL BOUNCING
    • If a ball is bounced in, it is worth 2 cups.
    • Balls are NOT given back when bounced unless the second shot is made in the same cup as the bounced ball.
    • In the event of a made bounced ball and a made non-bounced second ball in the same cup, 3 cups are taken away of the shooting team's choosing. Balls are then given back to the shooting team.
    • In the event of TWO made bounced balls in the SAME cup, balls are given back and 4 cups are taken away of the shooting team's choosing.
    • In the event two balls are bounced and made in separate cups, four cups are taken away of the shooting team's choosing. Balls in this case are NOT given back.
    • Ball CAN be swatted away ONLY when bounced.
    KNOCKING CUPS OVER
    • If a cup is knocked over, it is counted as a made shot and removed from the table. If the cup knocked over had previously been made by the first shot then it counts for two balls made in the same cup and the shooting team gets balls back. The shooting team chooses which other cup is to be taken away.
    RE-RACKS
    • Each team gets 2 re-racks during the game whenever they choose.
    • During OT they receive one re-rack.
    REDEMPTION
    • Once one team makes all their cups, then the opposing team has a chance to "SHOOT TILL THEY MISS" starting with one shot and alternating after each made shot. If the first shot or any following shot is missed before all cups are made then the game is over. The team shooting must clear all remaining cups to go to O.T.
    SPORTSMANSHIP
    • No standing on side of table. No distracting hand gestures while opposing team is shooting. If the referree sees this, he has the option to disqualify the team immediately!!
    BLOWING
    • No blowing or fingering balls out of cups.
    QUESTIONS OR DISPUTES
    • Any rule dispute, please see referree
    • Have fun, and play responsibly
    OVERTIME (O.T.)
    • If all cups are cleared by both teams per the rules above, then both teams will enter into O.T.
    • O.T. is started with a 3-cup playoff
    • Each team will follow the same rules as regulation for setup and play

Event Photos and Results

Here are the results and photos from the 1st Beer Olympics in September, 2009. Check back after the December event for more!

Wow! What a day! The CrawlPB Beer Olympics was an amazing event. We absolutely packed the 710 Beach Club and Grill in PB. The event was totally sold out and the beer was flowing.

Goldfingers have Midas Touch in Beer Pong

The Goldfingers soared through the Beer Pong tournament and came out on top, defeating the Drank Slangers in the championship round. We also saw impressive performances from Team Ram Rods and God's Children. Check out some photos from the Beer Pong excitement.

Team Machete Squadron 6 Slashes the Flip Cup Competition

The Flip Cup tournament finished late in the day and was as much a test of longevity as it was cup flipping. Team Machete Squadron 6 was the clear favorite for Flip Cup, if the outfits were any indication, and they did not disappoint. Team Landfill gave them all they could handle in the best-of-five game final match. FYM and Team Kronos also made it deep into the tournament. Check out the action below.

Special thanks again to The List Magazine and Higher Minds for providing entertainment and music. Also thanks to DrinkYourDrink for helping to sponsor the Beer Pong portion of our event. And big thanks to 710 Beach Club for hosting the games.

We raised several hundred dollars for The Seany Foundation. Thanks to everyone who helped by participating in the raffle and congrats to those that won!
